Train vs Plane

Off to the US with work today and given the issues with security decided to go direct from Heathrow. Because of connection times I decided to get the train rather than the plane from Manchester. So at 6am this morning arrived at a cold and damp Stockport station (thanks to my wife for the lift and bacon buttie!) to find signalling problems at Styal, so diverted via Stoke.

Typically, they only tell passengers that the train won't call at Wilmslow and Crewe AFTER we leave Stockport! And Virgin are contemplating bidding for the ECML as well.....
